Series 1: Finale!

Tonight saw the final race of our club’s first racing series. 4 boats took to the water (eventually, after various snags!) in gusty conditions with mixed positons throughout the field.

Congratulations to Richard who is our first series champion!

The Regatta 10 results and overall Series 1 standings can be seen on our Racing page.

When one door closes, another opens and Series 2 will begin next Wednesday at 6:30pm. Series 2 will be over a shorter stint of 7 weeks to finish on 13th September.

Thanks to all members for your attendance and look forward to seeing you all, Wednesdays or Sundays, in all weathers!

Thanks to all who attended our BBQ last night, an enjoyable evening had by all!

See you all next week…

Wednesday Series 1 – Regatta’s 6 & 7

Good Evening,

Following the abandonment of Regatta 6 due to poor conditions, 4 members were lakeside last night to race in the 7th Regatta of the 10 race series.

The latest results can be viewed on the Racing page.

Next weeks Regatta (12/07) will also incorporate a lakeside BBQ (weather permitting) so bring yer bangers down with your boats and enjoy al fresco dining and more close quarters racing. We encourage all members to join us!

Thanks,

Mike

Wednesday Series 1 – Regatta 5

Good Evening Mariners,

Tonight we saw 5 and a half boats (Sorry Chris!) take to the water with 5 IOM’s participating in the evenings racing. Very changeable conditions prevailed tonight with rolling mist sometimes obscuring view of the marks completely.

Sadly, we were only able to use 3 marks tonight as one of the four buoys laid appears to have been taken. The weight used to secure the buoy to the lake bed was deposited on the decked area suggesting that the buoy has been removed rather than freeing itself from its position.

However, this didn’t stop a good evenings racing with mixed results throughout the fleet. Tonights scores and season standings can be seen on the Racing page.

Thanks all, see you next week for a 6:30pm (ish) start!

Millbrook Model Mariners Open Day and Rubber Duck Race 2017 – Event Review

Sunday 11th June saw the return of our annual open day with the addition of a Rubber Duck Race to raise money for the Keep Me Close Appeal. Boats from Millbrook, Looe, Camborne & Plymouth were lake-side with sunny weather throughout the day. The conditions were perfect for sailing but the high winds limited running for other boats.

Hot drinks, cakes and pasties were available throughout the day with plants also being sold on the day.

In total £173 was raised with some of the funds being donated to the Keep Me Close Appeal. A big thankyou to all those who attended, volunteered and thankyou to everyone for supporting both the club and a great cause.

A video of the event has been uploaded to the club’s Facebook page and is available here.

Welcome!

On behalf of the club we would like to welcome our two newest members, Richard & Ivor.

If you are interested in joining our local friendly club please feel free to bring an Application Form along with you and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
