Wednesday Series 1 – Regatta 5

Good Evening Mariners,

Tonight we saw 5 and a half boats (Sorry Chris!) take to the water with 5 IOM’s participating in the evenings racing. Very changeable conditions prevailed tonight with rolling mist sometimes obscuring view of the marks completely.

Sadly, we were only able to use 3 marks tonight as one of the four buoys laid appears to have been taken. The weight used to secure the buoy to the lake bed was deposited on the decked area suggesting that the buoy has been removed rather than freeing itself from its position.

However, this didn’t stop a good evenings racing with mixed results throughout the fleet. Tonights scores and season standings can be seen on the Racing page.

Thanks all, see you next week for a 6:30pm (ish) start!

Millbrook Model Mariners Open Day and Rubber Duck Race 2017 – Event Review

Sunday 11th June saw the return of our annual open day with the addition of a Rubber Duck Race to raise money for the Keep Me Close Appeal. Boats from Millbrook, Looe, Camborne & Plymouth were lake-side with sunny weather throughout the day. The conditions were perfect for sailing but the high winds limited running for other boats.

Hot drinks, cakes and pasties were available throughout the day with plants also being sold on the day.

In total £173 was raised with some of the funds being donated to the Keep Me Close Appeal. A big thankyou to all those who attended, volunteered and thankyou to everyone for supporting both the club and a great cause.

A video of the event has been uploaded to the club’s Facebook page and is available here.

Welcome!

On behalf of the club we would like to welcome our two newest members, Richard & Ivor.

If you are interested in joining our local friendly club please feel free to bring an Application Form along with you and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Wednesday Series 1 – Regatta 1

Tonight marked the first regatta of the Wednesday Series that will take place over the summer months. With 4 club boats in attendance and a guest boat (that definitely gave us a run for our money!) we went head to head in light conditions to start the series off with a bang.

The racing rules and running results will be added to the Racing section of the website in due course, but tonight’s results are posted below:

Wednesday Series 1 – Regatta 1 – 24/05/17

2017 Calendar is LIVE

Happy Sunday afternoon Mariners!

Our 2017 calendar has now been drafted up and is available to view on the club site . We hope to see as many members and new members as possible join us for fun and friendly sailing at Millbrook Lake. We have also published the shows and events we intend to visit over the coming year.

Members meetings still continue on the first Monday of each month and as always attendance is appreciated.  Meetings are also a great opportunity to come down and meet other members if you are considering joining a model boat club. We are a growing club and encourage anyone with an interest in modelling or boating in general to come and see if we are for you!

Some meets are better supported than others and whilst we would all like to be able to meet every weekend the reality is that we all have other commitments to meet as well. The forums are a great place to arrange meets and discuss boating away from the lake. They have recently been overhauled so anyone (even non-members) can post questions and ideas so you don’t even need to leave the house to engage with the club.

We hope to see our members (old and new) at the Lake in the near future!

Thanks,

Mike
